What is COVID-19

Corona virus disease (COVID-19)  is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).[6] The disease was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei province, and has since spread globally, resulting in the 2019 – 2020 corona virus pendamic. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. COVID-19 spreads mainly by droplets produced. The virus is mainly spread  during close contact and via respiratory droplets produced when people cough or sneeze. Respiratory droplets may be produced during breathing but the virus is not considered air droplets.

COVID-19 Impact on Indian Economy

Corona Virus will impact India’s economic growth “severely”, as the coronavirus lockdown is causing significant disruption across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, oil, financial, among others, says a report. lockdown in India, India’s GDP growth is expected to moderate further from our earlier estimate of 5 per cent for FY20. According to Dun & Bradstreet’s latest Economy Forecast, the probability of countries entering into recession and companies going bankrupt has increased and India is not likely to “remain decoupled” from thye Global meltdown. India’s GDP growth is expected to moderate further from our earlier estimate of 5 percent for FY20, it said.

Lockdown Impact on Daily Wage Labour/Slum Area Residents

According to the most recent labour statistics, 25 percent of rural households and 12 percent of urban households rely on casual labour as their main source of income. Corona Virus Lockdown robs Daily Wagers Labour of their means of Survival in India. More than 30% construction workers are staying away from work sites due to fear over coronavirus infection and many of them may have returned to their villages or are planning to do so, they said. Contractors are also not keen on pushing them either. Most developers are running against time to finish already delayed projects and face cost escalation besides likely heavy penalties in case of further delays. But that seems inevitable.

 In the wake of a nationwide Lockdown to curb the spread of corona virus, concerns have been raised about daily-wage Labours of Slum Area getting robbed of their incomes due to a sudden lack of work. Jan Vikas Mission Trust & its team Donated Food/Ration Kit to the Needy Daily Wage Labour in Slum Area, as to reduce their suffering from Hunger Starvation due to Corona Virus and Lockdown, Jan Vikas Mission Trust had taken a Small Step to Help them in such situation. All the tenants were happily received their Ration Kit.  “We feel that as human beings, it’s our responsibility to help the most vulnerable amongst us in their time of need”.
